ACS Motion Control has released a new 4.20.02 ADK Suite, Runtime Kit, and Documentation Kit. This release includes feature enhancements, bug fixes, and infrastructure improvements (see attached release notes). These infrastructure improvements lay the groundwork for future EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) compliance of our products.
Enhancements include:
- LCI (Laser Control Interface) – synchronized gating mode & external clock monitoring
- Linux – support for Controller Simulator
- Infrastructure – fix for firmware incompatibilities and support for future compliance with EU Cyber Resiliency Act
- Tool Normal support (C, .NET & Python libraries)
Effective immediately, controllers will start shipping with firmware 4.20.02 (except for “freeze” part numbers).
It is highly recommended for all customers/partners working on new and active projects to upgrade and work with 4.20.02. However, customers/partners building systems with controllers running older ADK/firmware versions may continue to do so.
ADK/MMI 4.20.02 requires controller firmware 4.20.02 (and vice versa) to run properly. Controllers running older firmware should only be connected to ADK/MMI 4.20.02 to upgrade the controller firmware to 4.20.02.
Controllers running firmware 4.20.02 will not work with older version servo processor files. If your application has a custom servo processor file, please contact your local application engineer to have your files upgraded through our support email: support@acsmotioncontrol.com.
Host applications using an older version of host application libraries can communicate with controllers running firmware 4.20.02. It is not required to upgrade host application libraries for a host application to work with a controller running 4.20.02, although it is recommended to do so.
Finally, the Documentation Kit is no longer included in the ADK Suite starting with this version. It must be downloaded separately. The Documentation Kit will be updated periodically on our website in-between ADK releases. Our intention is to ensure that you have access to the latest version of our documentation at all times.
